Final Days of Early Bird are Upon Us!

Greetings, all!

earlybirdcoverI wanted to take a moment to remind everyone that the final days of the Arts Council of Appling County’s Early Bird Membership Drive are upon us! June 30 marks the final day to pledge your membership donation to #applingarts at a discounted rate. You can find an application by following this link, or contacting us at or 912-278-2772. Your membership is tax deductible!

The Arts Council of Appling County depends on your support to bring shows, like our Summer Concerts in Water Works Park series and our annual production of In the Pines , to Baxley and Appling County.  The arts contribute to community vitality. A growing body of research points to the arts as an engine for civic renewal. Citizen engagement in the arts creates a strong shared identity and instills pride in a cultural heritage. (Sources: The Community Arts Network; Social Impact of the Arts Project/The Reinvestment Fund; The Urban Institute) The ACAC truly believes that the events it presents help to enhance Baxley and Appling County as an exceptional place to live, work and play! We hope you agree!

aaronplayingOur last Summer Concert was a big success! Aaron Irons, an amazing Rockabilly musician, came down from Macon, GA to treat attendees to an evening full of toe-tapping tunes. The concessions, popcorn and ice cream sandwiches from us and AMAZING dogs and Italian ice from Bar None Vending and Concessions, were mouth-watering and tummy-filling. There was dancing, singing, children playing and splashing and some Appling County celebrity sightings! These concerts in Water Works Park have truly been a delight for us to provide to the Appling County entertainment scene! We hope to continue having them beyond our current schedule and hope that you will come enjoy them with us!

The Arts Council is confident that providing entertainment, culture and nightlife to our community is an important economic factor for attracting business and tourism. The June 10 concert brought guests from Lyons, Waycross and St. Marys! As we keep hosting more shows, we hope to keep hosting more guests from more communities that will spend more money and more time in Baxley!

We have an exciting line-up of events scheduled for the coming year, including the Summer Concerts in Water Works Park and a participatory Storytelling SeriesThe full line-up can be found by following this link. We will also be hosting a children’s musical, The True Story of the Three Little Pigs, is in April; classes taught by great local talents (these include a quarterly Story Writing Workshop with Mary Ann Ellis, Spirits & Strokes – fun evenings of painting – with Judy Johnson and Rag Rug Crocheting with Barbara Baker), a Costume 5K & 1 Mile Fun Run in October and Cruising for Murder, a murder mystery dinner experience, in February.  We have a season full of ways for everyone to celebrate and participate in Appling Arts!
