2017-2018 Early Bird Drive

The Arts Council of Appling County received great support during the 2016-2017 season. Without this help we would not have been able to present the community with shows like In the Pines: Part III, Community Christmas, Cruising for Murder: Murder Mystery Dinner and all the other events we were proud to host.crusing-for-muder-fb-photo

Last year the ACAC promised to put more emphasis on promoting our local talent. We did so by holding our annual Fall and Spring Art & Handcrafts Shows, A Community Christmas, Appling Variety Show and In The Pines: Part III, our annual production that highlights various stories relating to the history, folk-life and heritage of Appling County and the Wiregrass region. This year we are making that same promise by hosting these lauded events and more. Our new events line-up begins Thursday, May 12th with the first event of the season our Summer Concerts at Water Works Park, a free monthly Summer concert seriessummer series that will include our fine Appling County bands: Station No. 7 in addition to talents from other Georgia cities. We are also hosting classes taught by great local talents! These include quarterly classes such as Spirits & Strokes – fun evenings of painting – with Judy Johnson and Rag Rug Crocheting with Barbara Baker. We are also planning our annual murder mystery dinner experience Murder High Reunion, in February.  We have a season full of ways for everyone to celebrate and participate in Appling Arts!

The Arts Council of Appling County works and collaborates with the local school and community groups to encourage and stimulate the practice and appreciation of all of the arts by supporting the equality of all individuals to share in creative expression. We hope that you, your business and your friends will consider helping to fund our cause this year.  The arts contribute to community vitality. A growing body of research points to the arts as an engine for civic renewal. Citizen engagement in the arts creates a strong shared identity and instills pride in a cultural heritage. The ACAC truly believes that the events it presents help to enhance Baxley and Appling County as an exceptional place to live, work and play! We hope you agree!
